I am rebuilding my anti-dumping overview from scratch, because a range of 105 to 114 percent is of no use to anyone in purchasing.
I am Siggi. I know the chemistry in Asia.
57 products are in it, from lysine to terephthalic acid. Every duty currently in force, every ongoing investigation and the cases that are taking shape.
Until now each product carried a range. Now it carries the rate for each individual producing company, together with the code that goes into the customs declaration. Because the duty follows the company that made the goods, not the company that sells them. For BDO from China one producer pays 105.6 percent, the next 113.7 and four others 107.5. Anyone declaring the wrong code, or forgetting the required sentence on the invoice, automatically pays the highest rate.
On top of that comes what no duty table shows. Who started the case. What volumes are actually involved. And where the next move is taking shape.
At the end of every sheet I write how I read the situation. Kept separate from the official entries, so the two can be told apart.
For BDO it looks like this. The duty covers the raw material only. It does not cover PBT and THF, that is, the things made from it. A European producer wanted that changed and was turned down, because it would need a case of its own. I think that case will come.
Attached, the BDO sheet as an example of the structure.
That's the chemistry.
Siggi
